WANTED: SBDC Business Advisor
An SBDC Business Advisor Business advisor is responsible primarily for client counseling, which includes direct, in-depth client contact in one-on-one meetings along with telepohne and written communication. Responsible for research with an emphasis on detail and accurate documentation, preparation of material and suggesting courses of action, and exercising absolute confidentiality of client information.
Duties:
- Interview and assess client needs.
- Provide in-depth counseling with clients to determine their needs and capabilities, and develop counseling work plans.
- Work closely with Director or other agencies to facilitate the operation of the program.
- Attend training sessions for business analysts to facilitate ongoing knowledge, and provide in-depth counseling.
- Assist in the planning and marketing of seminars, training sessions, and conferences.
- Community involvement; public appearances as needed or directed.
- Participate in training events as instructor or moderator.
- Assist in efforts to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of training events.
- Other duties as assigned by Director.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a four-year college of university with a degree in Business Administration, Economics, or other related fields or minimum of five years of experience in business management, ownership, or activities. (An equivalent combination of education and experience that indicates posession of the required knowledge and abilities may be acceptable.)
- General knowledge of the principles of business.
- High level of interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and to organize and establish work priorities with minimal direction and supervision.
- Ability to meet the baseline requirements established by the Department of Development within a two-year period.
- Ability to meet the requirements of a business-analyst position and receive CBAO Certification within a given one-year period.
- Ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work effectively with private and public sectors and institutes of higher learning.
