Loans
Below is a list of our current loan programs available for new and small businesses. There is an application fee for all loan programs. To apply or for more information, please contact us.
Portage County Microenterprise Loan Program
Through funding from the Portage County Board of Commissioners, funding is available to low and moderate income business owners who are planning to launch or expand their business in Portage County.
Loans averaging $6,000 are made for working capital, inventory, equipment, and business start-up.
Kent Mini Loan
The purpose of the Kent Mini Loan is to make adequate and affordable credit more readily available to existing and start-up businesses in Kent. Loans are made in the amount of $10,000 to $50,000.
Eligible Uses:
- Acquisition of land and building or rehabilitation of owner-occupied premises
- Acquisition of machinery and equipment
- Working capital needed to purchase inventory and/or carry eligible receivables
- Franchise fees
- Leasehold improvements with a lease term of not less than five years
NOTE: This program is only available to businesses in the official limits of the City of Kent. For example, businesses in Brimfield or Franklin Township with mailing addresses of Kent are not eligible.
